UVA CDC Copeley Site has received an initial VSQI Rating of 3.
VSQI is a voluntary system to assess, improve, and communicate the level of quality in early care and education settings that families consider for their children.
Participation and the award of a one-star or higher (5 being the top) rating reflects a program’s choice to raise the bar in commitment to quality beyond expectation or requirements.
A program with a star rating:
- Is on a quality improvement plan
- Distinguishes itself for exceeding standards required of it
- Assures parents of its focus on producing a high quality experience for children
- Reflects a culture of commitment to excellence among staff
The four standards areas are: 1. education, qualifications, and training of staff, 2. staff interaction with children, 3. structure, and 4. environment and instruction.
After receiving a rating, the program will meet with a mentor to develop and implement a quality improvement plan based on the rating report. The mentor will regularly work with the program to help guide the improvement process and discuss specific strategies to aid in improving the quality of the program.
