Wait List Policy

To place your child on the Wait List, please complete the Wait List Application.

Information on the Wait List Application must be complete and up to date. It is the responsibility of the submitter to inform the Centers of changes. If you cannot be reached, then your application will be removed.

The University of Virginia Child Development Centers accept children whose parents or legal guardians are affiliated with the University or UVA Health - Medical Center.

Enrollment is offered based on priority, and date of completed waitlist application.

Priority of Enrollments

Priority One

  • Full-time University (Agency 207) faculty, staff, and postdoctoral fellows (benefits-eligible with full-time designation in Workday)
  • Full-time UVA students (SIS must reflect full-time enrollment)

Priority Two

  • Full-time UVA Health - Medical Center (Agency 209) team members (benefits-eligible with full-time designation in Workday)

Priority Three

  • Part-time University (Agency 207) faculty, staff, and postdoctoral fellows (benefits-eligible with part-time designation in Workday)
  • Part-time UVA Health - Medical Center (Agency 209) team members (benefits-eligible with part-time designation in Workday)
  • Part-time UVA students (SIS must reflect part-time enrollment, minimum 50%)
  • Full-time UPG staff (benefits-eligible with full-time designation in Workday)
  • Full-time foundation employees affiliated with the University or UVA Health System (full-time designation in Workday)
  • Full-time employees of University or UVA Health - Medical Center affiliated contractors
    • Company must have a contract with the University or UVA Health System for a minimum of three years
    • Must provide on-site services to the University or UVA Health - Medical Center
    • Must reflect as a sponsor in Workday with full-time designation
  • Visiting Faculty - Non-Paid (12+ month assignment designation in Workday)
  • Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School staff and attendees (active-duty with a 12+ month assignment/orders)

Siblings of enrolled children are moved to the top of the priority list once the initial child has been enrolled for a minimum of six months. 

Additional Notes For Placement Offers:

  • A child is offered enrollment only into a classroom that is age appropriate for the child
  • Parent/guardian has 48 hours to accept or decline the space upon offer
  • If the parent/guardian declines the offer, the child will be moved to the end of the wait list
  • If an attempt is made to contact a parent to offer a space and the parent cannot be reached within 48 hours, the vacancy will be offered to the next child on the list. If another space becomes available, a second attempt will be made to contact the parent. If there is no response within 48 hours, the child will be removed from the wait list.
  • Registration fees must be paid within 48 hours of offer acceptance
  • Tuition payments must begin no later than two weeks after accepting enrollment
